Can this really be possible?

Sorry for the constant posts today!
But reading everyone's blogs is getting me excited about the whole prospect of losing weight

I was talking to my sister about my goals
I don't want to set myself up for failure, I want to make realistic goals
I've been told that setting a date to achieve each goal may not be the best way to go about it
So how do I do it?!
My surgery is exactly 20 weeks before New Years eve...So I thought I might reward myself if I lose 20kg (44 lb) by that time. But I don't even know if that's possible!

I know everyone is different, but what is your average weight loss?
Is 1kg a week pushing it?
Should I instead aim for half a kg (1 lb)a week??
I just don't know what to expect!!

I also had a look at how much I would need to lose to get to a healthy BMI

at the moment i'm 5ft and 124kg (273 lb) so my BMI is 55 (morbidly obese)
to get into the healthy range, I need to get down to 55kg (121 lb)
that means I would need to lose about 70kg (154 lb)
Thats a HUGE loss! So huge it doesnt even seem possible

eeeeep I really don't want to set myself up to fail
but I really like the sound of being under 60kg for once!!

HELP!!

Just found your blog. Welcome to blogland.

I have this same fear of setting goals with time frames, so I haven't. I have the goals, but have not set myself time frames.

I also have only put down half of my weight goals, but that is more about my insecurities about stuffing up.

You will find what works for you.

thanks!
I would really love to say "by this date I would have lost this much" but I know that everytime I've lost weight the time frames have always been so different!
I think I'm just going to take it as it comes!

It's totally possible, but not easy! I'm shooting for about 1.5 lbs per week between now and Christmas, but I'm afraid I might have been too ambitious as well in setting that goal.

But even if we don't make it ALL the way, what progress we make is definitely better than where we started, right? :D

Honestly.... i have 2 sets of goal weights... the first is the 'ok we actually can she is loosing weight goal' and the 2nd is the 'omg she is totally not the same person she used to be anymore' goal ahahahah

im not doing dates... i think that would send me nutty ahahah.
